David Emon placed on 10-day remand in two cases Court also shows alleged member of Boro Sazzad's criminal network arrested in an extortion case A court in Chattogram today placed listed criminal David Emon alias Mobarak Hossain Emon on a 10-day remand in two separate cases filed with Fatikchhari Police Station. Senior Judicial Magistrate Motasim Billah passed the order after police produced him before the court. Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle) Kazi Tarek Aziz told Media that the court granted a five-day remand in the Jamal murder case and another five-day remand for Emon and his four associates in an arms case filed with Fatikchhari Police Station. He added that another court also showed Emon arrested in an extortion case filed with Hathazari Police Station. Emon and three of his associates were arrested in Jashore on July 30 while allegedly attempting to cross into India through the Jhikargacha border, police said. Police have identified Emon as one of the two men allegedly running fugitive gangster Boro Sazzad's criminal network in Chattogram. Emon is accused in at least seven cases, including the Bakalia double murder on March 30, 2025; the killing of gangster Dhakaiya Akbar at Patenga Sea Beach on May 23, 2025; and vandalising and looting the office of internet service provider Digital Dot Net after allegedly demanding Tk 2 crore. Police said Emon and Raihan Alam took over the gang's day-to-day operations after the imprisonment of Sazzad Hossain alias Chhoto Sazzad. Raihan is also accused in at least eight cases, including murder, extortion and illegal possession of firearms.
