Seven killed in Mymensingh crash between bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw

Three women and a child were among those killed in the crash on Akua Bypass Road.

At least seven people, including a child, were killed today when a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Mymensingh.

Police said the victims’ identities were not immediately known.

Three of the deceased were women and one was a child, said Md Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police in Mymensingh. All the victims died at the scene.

The accident occurred around 1:30pm in the Gandrapa area of Akua Bypass Road in the city.

Quoting local residents, Mamun said a Rajib Paribahan bus travelling from Jamalpur to Dhaka was heading along the bypass road when it collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw bound for Muktagacha.

The auto-rickshaw was mangled in the crash, and at least seven people died at the scene.

Mamun said he was on his way to the scene after receiving news of the accident. Rescue teams were also heading there.

Traffic on the road was disrupted following the crash.
