State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain will announce his final decision on whether to resign from his post at 2pm on Monday at the National Press Club in Dhaka.

He announced his plan in a post on his verified Facebook page.

Expressing frustration over celebratory reactions from some social media users, Ishraque said he hoped they would join future movements, if necessary, inspired by nationalist ideals.

He vowed to intensify his anti-drug campaign even if he stepped down as state minister.

“Not as a member of parliament or state minister, but as a BNP activist, I will work with a hundred times more enthusiasm against drugs,” he wrote.

He also pledged to strengthen cleanliness campaigns and visit districts across the country to enhance the organisational capacity of the Projonmo Dal.

“Not minister, eradicate drugs! Eradicate drugs, eradicate drugs!” he wrote.
